From the early days in the 1970s opposing sand mining in the shire, rallying against massive developments on the North Shore to organising the community poll against amalgamation, Stan Chandler, a past president and life member of the Noosa Shire Residents and Ratepayers Association, and his team had Noosa and our way of life at heart and was instrumental in advocating the need for better controls on the river.
From these early beginnings, Noosa Shire Residents & Ratepayers (NSRRA)
developed a set of ‘Aims & Objects’.
NSRRA Aims & Objectives
- To ensure that Rates and Levies are kept at the lowest practical level, consistent with an acceptable level of services to the community.
- To protect the Noosa lifestyle, which is built on a good balance between the natural and built environment – the reason most of us are here.
- To ensure that the views of the Noosa community are represented in a forceful but constructive way.
- To maintain a good relationship with Council while being respected for its well informed scrutiny of Council activities.
Over the years, NSRRA has made submissions to relevant decision makers on De-amalgamation, the Noosa Transport Plan, SEQ Transport Strategy, Meet the Councillor candidates, The Noosa Plan, The Noosa River Plan, Short-term rental issues, and a range of other topics to protect our values.
Our commitment remains to protect our Residents and Ratepayers values and to work with Council and other Community Groups to achieve outcomes that protect what makes Noosa Shire special.
